God once a man?

God once a man?
Joseph Smith once said, "I go back to the beginning to show what kind of a being God was, I will tell you & hear it O Earth! God who sits in yonder heavens is a man like yourselves That God if you were to see him to day that holds the worlds you would see him like a man in form, like yourselves. Adam was made in his image and talked with him & walked with him. In order to understand the dead for the consolation of those that mourn, I want you to understand God and how he comes to be God. We suppose that God was God from eternity. I will refute that Idea, or I will do away or take away the veil so you may see. It is the first principle to know that we may converse with him and that he once was a man like us, and the Father was once on an earth like us, And I wish I was in a suitable place to tell it The scriptures inform us mark it that Jesus Christ said As the Father hath power in himself so hath the son power in himself to do what the father did even to lay down my body & take it up again do you believe it, if not, don’t believe the bible." (King Follet sermon)
Our critics enjoy using this quote against us to show we are not Christians because we believe that God was once a man. Sometimes they mockingly ask, "On what earth was God once a man?" or "Can you prove by the Bible that the Father was once a man?" As often happens, those who criticize us often don't ponder what the Bible actually says. Since this is the book which Christians claim to base all their religious belief in, let’s look at what it tells us.
The very foundation of Christian doctrine is that Jesus was a man who is  also God. However, Jesus taught many times that the rest of mankind would likewise follow His example. In other words, the same process that Jesus went through to become exalted to sit on the right hand of God is the same process intended for all mankind to go through. Let's see what the scriptures have to tell us.
We find in the New Testament that Jesus declared 84 times that he was the "son of Man." What does that mean? just to introduce what kind of person His Dad was. It means also that Jesus was a man just like us. He was born of a woman, just as we are. He was capable of being physically harmed, just as we are. In fact, it was for this very reason that His parents fled to Egypt to keep Him safe from Herod’s wrath. He was required to obey the laws of God just like everyone else. As such, He had to be baptized, just like we are required to be. He was tempted the same as we are. He became hungry and thirsty, just as we do, and He suffered pain, and died, just as we do. His life was clearly typical of what we face as humans. There can be no doubt that Jesus was indeed a man in every way that we are.

Christians argue that while Jesus was indeed a man, He was also God. But it was Jesus who declared that we too are Gods. In John 10:31-35 we read, "Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken."

This is a remarkable declaration! But can this be true? Jesus was the one who said it, and He drove home His point when He said "the scripture cannot be broken." Therefore, it must be true if we are to believe in the Bible.

The critics argue that this can’t be because Jesus is God and there is no one greater than God. However, Jesus declared that the Father was greater than Him. More than that, Jesus commanded us to "Be perfect like your Father in heaven is perfect." This clearly infers that Jesus had not become perfect Himself at this point because He had not yet risen to sit at the right hand of the father. This happened after His resurrection
Let’s take a look at some other verses of scripture that verify this claim. Philippians 2:6-9 tells us, "Who, being in the form of God , thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name."

This scripture tells us that "God also hath highly exalted him." How could God (whom Jesus said was greater than He was) exalt Him if He was already exalted before He came to earth? To understand the answer to this question, let’s examine the life of Jesus.

We believe that before being born on earth, Jesus lived in heaven as a spirit. And so did we. Consider these verses of scripture:

Hebrews 12:9 "Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected [us], and we gave [them] reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?"

Ecclesiastes 12:7 "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it."

Luke 23:46 "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit."

Colossians 1:15 "Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature."
Revelation 3:14
14 ¶ And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

After His pre-mortal life, Jesus came on earth to live just as we did. The Bible tells us, in Hebrews 4:15, "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin." He died just as each of us will someday die (Colossians 1:18)
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead;
. He rose from the dead, and someday so will we. He was judged (Philippians 2:8; Hebrews 1:4)
Hebrews 1:4
4 ¶ Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
Philippians 2:9
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

Hebrews 4:15
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin.
Philippians 2:8
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
phesians 2:6
6 And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus:
Ephesians 3:19
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.
that this idea could be hard for the human mind is clearly said from Paul himself in the next verse
Ephesians 3:20
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
and also
Philippians 3:20
20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
Philippians 3:21
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body,
see it is always mentioning the word body no spirit.
Colossians 2:9
9 For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
BODILY
and thank to him other man will become Gods according to
and so will we be judged. When he had by himself purged our sins, He sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high (Philippians 2:9), and so will we. In Ephesians 2:6; 3:16 we read, "And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus… And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God."

The apostle Paul further clarified what he meant when he continued his explanation in the next two verses, saying, "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body."
To the Hebrews Paul further explained, "For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified [are] all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren… Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto [his] brethren." (Hebrews 2:11, 17).
Jesus became perfect (Hebrews 5:9)
Hebrews 5:99 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
MADE PERFECT
and we too are commanded to be perfect (Hebrews 12:23).
Hebrews 12:2323 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

As though this isn’t enough to show us that we will become just like Jesus, the apostle John clearly declared, "but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is" (1 John 3:2).
1 John 3:2but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Was God once was a man? If man will become as God is then it seems to me the process by which men become God is must be the same
After all is declared by Jesus he said to be a son of a Man and His Father was God the Father!
In the creation, all LIFE was commanded to reproduce itself after its own kind, and only so. Through all the generations since the creation the various life species have held true. Man was born as the OFFSPRING OF GOD, hence we are in His image and likeness just as surely as were Adam and Seth and Jesus who taught who saw me saw the Father.
Animals reproduce after their kind but they are not creative, man is like His Father not only reproduce his kind but he is by nature a creator of things.
Jesus is now a God, the God of all Christians and he was a man, He is the living proof that God was once a man!!
Do you want to know on which earth your God , O Christians, was? On your own!!!!!

THE REORGANIZED CHURCH.

THE REORGANIZED CHURCH.

Two weeks ago, precisely on the "cinco de Mayo" weekend, I had a wonderful opportunity to visit many of our Church's historical sites. I had won a ticket to fly to Kansas city and there I rented a car, which I then drove all night to get to Carthage jail in Illinois. After spending the entire morning there, I next went to the city of Nauvoo. Since the house of Joseph Smith, his store and his grave are the property of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, I spent about two hours taking the tour which they offer. They are nice people, and like everyone else, they sincerely try to live their religion, but during the tour they said something that bothered me. When speaking of the death of Joseph Smith, they remarked that the person designated to take his place as the head of the church was his son, Joseph Smith the third. However, this initially presented a problem because, immediately after his father's death, he was too young to assume leadership over the!
e church.

Out of respect, I remained silent as I listened to these remarks, but at the end of the tour I went to their visitor's center, while trying to better focus on their position and to understand their reasoning. In time, I was able to have a discussion with one of the tour guides. Here is how our conversation went:

Massimo: "Do you believe that the church fell into apostasy when the prophet died?"
Answer: "Not exactly. There were several groups that were lead by different people, but we believe that since the prophet Joseph had given a blessing to his son and set him apart as his successor, no one could legally lead the church except him."
Massimo: "You mean that the church was still true but at that time it had no leader?"
Answer: "Yes, I'd say so."
Massimo: "Are you aware that every blessing given to someone by the priesthood will be fulfilled if that person will remain faithful to the church and to the Lord?"
Answer: "I'd say that's correct."
Massimo: "As you know, we have the example of David. He was set apart by Samuel to be the king over Israel while Saul was still king. Even in hard times, David remained faithful to God and to Saul, until the time came for him to become the king."
Answer: "That is a good point, but Joseph Smith the third was a good man, so what is the point?"
Massimo: "According to many different historical writings, it doesn't seem that he had an interest in religion for many years. We know for sure that his mother kept him away from the church and from religion too, perhaps fearing for his safety. However, we do know for sure that Joseph Smith the third on several occasions refused to become President of the Reorganized Church. He finally did accept this position in 1860, but that was sixteen years after his father's death."
Answer: "Yes, that is true."
Massimo: "Therefore, it would seem that in the meantime the true church could not have existed."
Answer: "Oh, but it did! There were several faithful people who took care of the church during this time."
Massimo: "Who were they?
Answer: "Faithful members of the church!"
Massimo: "Which church?
Answer: "The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Massimo: "But that one was already being lead by Brigham Young."
Answer: "Not really, because he was not a true faithful member of that church."
Massimo: "Do you mean that Brigham Young was not the leader of that church?
Answer: "Only nominally, with some people. But there were many who didn't support him as a prophet because they knew that Joseph Smith the third should be the head of the church."
Massimo: "So, you're telling me that Jesus Christ left HIS church without any guidance between the time Joseph Smith Jr. died and sixteen years later when his son took over."
Answer: "No. Joseph Smith the third was the natural prophet."
Massimo: "But he had just turned eleven years old when his father was killed. That means he didn't have any priesthood authority."
Answer: "That is why we had to await until 1860 to have the new prophet."
Massimo: "So the Lord left his church without a prophet during those sixteen years?"
Answer: "No. There were some people who took care of it until the time came."
Massimo: "Are you saying, then, that Brigham Young and all the Apostles lost their priesthood and their authority just because the prophet Joseph died?"
Answer: "No, not because the prophet died, but because they made a wrong decision to leave the church by rather than following the true prophet of God."
Massimo: "So you're telling me that common, ordinary people decided on their own that Brigham Young, who was the most senior apostle, along with all the other apostles were all wrong?"
Answer: "It was so evident that Joseph Smith the third was set apart to be the new president."
Massimo: "I know that's what you say, but you really think that Jesus would allow His church to go leaderless just because a boy couldn't become the prophet?"
Answer: "I told you some people took care of it until the time when he could assume that responsibility."
Massimo: "This would make Joseph Smith the third at least the second or the third president of the Reorganized Church."
Answer: "No, because there was no Reorganized church until 1860."
Massimo: "So you're admitting that there was no church until 1860."
Answer: "You just don't understand."
Massimo: "Can I ask you one last question?"
Answer: "Sure go ahead."
Massimo: "When Jesus died who took his place?"
Answer: "Peter."
Massimo: "Was he the chief apostle?"
Answer: "Yes!"
Massimo: "Bingo! Thanks. You have clarified the whole matter here. I never heard in the scriptures of any son of a prophet becoming a prophet. God is the one who calls His servants and no one else."

This conversation took place in the visitor center of the Reorganized Church in Nauvoo. I truly believe that Joseph Smith the third, one day could have been the prophet, not just because his father set him apart, but because he would have followed the path that God designed for him. On the other hand, his mother was very bitter toward the church, and she had many reasons to be. Therefore, after the death of her husband, she didn't want to have anything to do with the church and lost interest in religion until 1860. In fact, she married someone from a Protestant denomination and tried to keep her son away from religion for many years. She especially had bad feelings against the doctrine of polygamy, which she denied that her husband practiced, even though such a fact was well established. If the people of the Reorganized Church accept the Bible they should know that the prophecy of Daniel clearly states that when the true church of God is restored there will be no more apostasy!
because the gospel will be preached in all the world. Even the book of Mormon teaches the same principle that there will be no more apostasy!

The true church has been given a commandment from God to preach the gospel everywhere. Today, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has about 60,000 missionaries around the world. The Reorganized Church has NO missionaries at all! The true church should be an expanding church. Today our church has over 11 million members world wide and growing. The Reorganized Church, after being in existence for 141 years, has a membership of just barely 250,000 people. They proclaimed that their prophet should be a descendant of Joseph Smith, but this is not true of the current head of their church. In fact, they've even changed the name of their church from that which the Lord Himself said it should be called. Now it is known as the "Community church"

They say that Joseph Smith the third fulfilled his calling when he was set apart as the head of the church, and became the first president of the Reorganized Church. However, in reality, he didn't fulfill anything because he was set apart to become the successor of his father in the CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS. Instead, he became the president of the church of the REORGANIZED CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS, which is another church than the one his father presided over.

When Jesus died, Peter, who was the chief apostle, became the leader of the church. This set the example by which the church can know who the next president should be. Joseph Smith told Brigham Young once that he "One day will preside over the church." At another time he said the same thing to Sydney Rigdon, and we also know that he set apart his son, Joseph Smith the third. Brigham Young fulfilled that prophecy for the simple reason that he remained faithful to the Lord. I am sure that Sydney Rigdon would also have fulfilled the prophecy about him if he had remained faithful. The same can be said of Joseph Smith, the third, if Emma Smith had followed the saints under the direction of Brigham Young. In fact, that is exactly what happened to the son and grandson of Joseph's brother, Hyrum Smith.

Another point needs to be mentioned. Persecution always followed the church. This was true for the saints who went to the Salt Lake valley with Brigham Young. But this was not true of the saints who remained in Nauvoo. That's because the Devil persecutes only the true saints of God, not the false ones.

Skin's colors.

Skin's colors.
The critics of our church, sometimes, have fun in asking: "How come the Lamanites, when they convert to your church, don't change their skin's color in white?
The question seems provoking and very smart but if we go to the very base and we discover why this happened in the old times and now no more we will see that this is perfectly conceivable and above all rational.
Why the Lord used this way to change the colors of the skin?
This is the question to lead us to better understand the problem.
Genesis 4:14
14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass, [that] every one that findeth me shall slay me.

Genesis 4:15
15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

Obviously in this case the mark was for Cain a protection but even a warning for the other inhabitants of the earth, to avoid him and don't have any relationship.
This seem logical to have an end with the flood, but that was not the case, we have the black race still now. We have to thank the modern revelation to have details on that.
Abraham 1:21
21 Now this king of Egypt was a descendant from the loins of Ham, and was a partaker of the blood of the Canaanites by birth.

Abraham 1:22
22 From this descent sprang all the Egyptians, and thus the blood of the Canaanites was preserved in the land.

Abraham 1:23
23 The land of Egypt being first discovered by a woman, who was the daughter of Ham, and the daughter of Egyptus, which in the Chaldean signifies Egypt, which signifies that which is forbidden;
Abraham 1:25
25 Now the first government of Egypt was established by Pharaoh, the eldest son of Egyptus, the daughter of Ham, and it was after the manner of the government of Ham, which was patriarchal.

Abraham 1:26
26 Pharaoh, being a righteous man, established his kingdom and judged his people wisely and justly all his days, seeking earnestly to imitate that order established by the fathers in the first generations, in the days of the first patriarchal reign, even in the reign of Adam, and also of Noah, his father, who blessed him with the blessings of the earth, and with the blessings of wisdom, but cursed him as pertaining to the Priesthood.

Abraham 1:27
27 Now, Pharaoh being of that lineage by which he could not have the right of Priesthood, notwithstanding the Pharaohs would fain claim it from Noah, through Ham, therefore my father was led away by their idolatry;
After this is very interesting to note that the chosen people are forbidden to marry the descendants of Canaan, son of Cam that everybody knows the black race came out.
Genesis 9:18
18 ¶ And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham [is] the father of Canaan.

Genesis 9:19
19 These [are] the three sons of Noah: and of them was the whole earth overspread.

Genesis 9:20
20 And Noah began [to be] an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:

Genesis 9:21
21 And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.

Genesis 9:22
22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.

Genesis 9:23
23 And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid [it] upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces [were] backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness.

Genesis 9:24
24 ¶ And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.
Genesis 9:25
25 And he said, Cursed [be] Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.

Genesis 9:26
26 And he said, Blessed [be] the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.

Genesis 9:27
27 God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.
The interesting question at this point should be: How the people of that time would have been able to know which ones were the descendants of Cam or Canaan? There were not the personal ID, no picture, no blood test and so on. Do you understand why now the Lord put a mark on Cain? That was a clear way by which everyone could know, a warning mark, impossible to miss it. We should consider that God did this no just for racism but just to preserve the priesthood.
Genesis 24:2
2 And Abraham said unto his eldest servant of his house, that ruled over all that he had, Put, I pray thee, thy hand under my thigh:

Genesis 24:3
3 And I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:
Abraham was well aware of this point.
In the book of Mormon this point is well defined
2 Nephi 5:21
21 And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.

2 Nephi 5:22
22 And thus saith the Lord God: I will cause that they shall be loathsome unto thy people, save they shall repent of their iniquities.

2 Nephi 5:23
23 And cursed shall be the seed of him that mixeth with their seed; for they shall be cursed even with the same cursing. And the Lord spake it, and it was done.

2 Nephi 5:24
24 And because of their cursing which was upon them they did become an idle people, full of mischief and subtlety, and did seek in the wilderness for beasts of prey.

2 Nephi 5:25
25 And the Lord God said unto me: They shall be a scourge unto thy seed, to stir them up in remembrance of me; and inasmuch as they will not remember me, and hearken unto my words, they shall scourge them even unto destruction.
This is in harmony with the Israel's history
Judges 2:20
20 And the anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not hearkened unto my voice;

Judges 2:21
21 I also will not henceforth drive out any from before them of the nations which Joshua left when he died:

Judges 2:22
22 That through them I may prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the LORD to walk therein, as their fathers did keep [it], or not.

Judges 2:23
23 Therefore the LORD left those nations, without driving them out hastily; neither delivered he them into the hand of Joshua.
Judges 3:1
1 ¶ NOW these [are] the nations which the LORD left, to prove Israel by them, [even] as many [of Israel] as had not known all the wars of Canaan;

Judges 3:2
2 Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at the least such as before knew nothing thereof;

Judges 3:3
3 [Namely], five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baalhermon unto the entering in of Hamath.

Judges 3:4
4 And they were to prove Israel by them, to know whether they would hearken unto the commandments of the LORD, which he commanded their fathers by the hand of Moses.
Many of these people were descendants of Cam.
The main reason for this was because they should not " might not be enticing unto my people " and therefore the purpose was: "And cursed shall be the seed of him that mixeth with their seed; for they shall be cursed even with the same cursing" to not mix the chosen people with them.
The mark on the skin was impossible to have been missed and no one had an excuse. Who knew the doctrine knew the meaning of it. I'd like to know how the Abraham's servant could disclose the right woman for Isaac, because the Abraham's warning was :"Genesis 24:3
3 And I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of the daughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell:
How could the servant know who where the daughters of the Canaanites or not if all the people were white?
Alma 3:6
6 And the skins of the Lamanites were dark, according to the mark which was set upon their fathers, which was a curse upon them because of their transgression and their rebellion against their brethren, who consisted of Nephi, Jacob, and Joseph, and Sam, who were just and holy men.

Alma 3:7
7 And their brethren sought to destroy them, therefore they were cursed; and the Lord God set a mark upon them, yea, upon Laman and Lemuel, and also the sons of Ishmael, and Ishmaelitish women.

Alma 3:8
8 And this was done that their seed might be distinguished from the seed of their brethren, that thereby the Lord God might preserve his people, that they might not mix and believe in incorrect traditions which would prove their destruction.

Alma 3:9
9 And it came to pass that whosoever did mingle his seed with that of the Lamanites did bring the same curse upon his seed.

Alma 3:10
10 Therefore, whosoever suffered himself to be led away by the Lamanites was called under that head, and there was a mark set upon him.

Alma 3:11
11 And it came to pass that whosoever would not believe in the tradition of the Lamanites, but believed those records which were brought out of the land of Jerusalem, and also in the tradition of their fathers, which were correct, who believed in the commandments of God and kept them, were called the Nephites, or the people of Nephi, from that time forth--

Alma 3:12
12 And it is they who have kept the records which are true of their people, and also of the people of the Lamanites.

Alma 3:13
13 Now we will return again to the Amlicites, for they also had a mark set upon them; yea, they set the mark upon themselves, yea, even a mark of red upon their foreheads.

Alma 3:14
14 Thus the word of God is fulfilled, for these are the words which he said to Nephi: Behold, the Lamanites have I cursed, and I will set a mark on them that they and their seed may be separated from thee and thy seed, from this time henceforth and forever, except they repent of their wickedness and turn to me that I may have mercy upon them.

Alma 3:15
15 And again: I will set a mark upon him that mingleth his seed with thy brethren, that they may be cursed also.

Alma 3:16
16 And again: I will set a mark upon him that fighteth against thee and thy seed.

At this time was necessary to turn the red in white for the people who converted their ways just to put the things in order, if God can put the mark it seems obvious that he can take off it too.
Now the silly question:" How come the Lamanites, today, don't turn back their skin in white when they convert to the church?" Simple! there is no more necessity like in that time:" The records of the church and the means by which we can check the identity are sure and above all if all the Lamanites that will convert to the church would turn their skin in white they would be a sure sign for mankind, but God doesn't work in that way. It would have been enough, then, to leave the golden plates to have the same purpose, but that is not the case. In the old times people couldn't notice this easily, for many reason, but today is very different and today is the day in which Jesus declared :"  Will The Son of man  find the faith on earth when he will be back?" The things of God are based on pure and simple faith no signs. in the old times to reverse the skin's color was necessary to put the person back in the fold, but not today. that is not more necessary for the reason I mentioned and also because the curs is over! Today is the day in which all mankind could partake of the priesthood blessings.

Why and how we should pray.

Why and how we should pray
To the first question the answer is very easy: because we don't want to be deceived from anyone or anything. Jesus said :"you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free."
I'd like to focus here on the word truth.
What is the truth?
Truth is knowledge of things as they are, and as they were, and as they are to come. D&C 93:24
how could you define truth by this declaration? REALITY!!
what are the philosophies of men? Just a guess or many times Illusions.
So a true believer when desire to find the real truth needs to ask the Father in the name of Jesus and if he ask for bread he will not receive a stone. To have a better comprehension of this I suggest you to read my talk "The Prayer".
How should we pray?
That is a very good question..
According to the scriptures a real desire is the very beginning, not only a desire to pray but even a real desire to know, to receive an answer to our questions to our doubts. Sometimes we pray for an answer but we are hoping to receive our answer: the answer we would like to receive. This forms a barrier between us and God, we should ask with no preconception in our mind, we should ask willing to listen to the voice of God and not our thinking, no matter what we believe or we think, otherwise why are we asking?
Sincere desire will bring sincerity in our prayer and honesty is another ingredient that is required by God Himself. No one shouldn't approach to Him if not in complete sincerity of mind and heart. I found this explanation in the book  "Putting the armor of God' by Steven a Cramer.
"Christ exemplified the importance of honesty in prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane where He wavered and wished to avoid completion of the Atonement. In the premortal counsel, Jesus Christ promised Heavenly Father and each one of us that He would come to earth and sacrifice Himself to pay for our sins and mistakes. He had failed in this, we would have been doomed to eternal darkness and the torments of Satan. The New Testament demonstrates Christ's commitment to fulfill that promise. But as He entered the Garden and the effects of our sins began to press down upon Him, as He began to feel the guilt and shame and horror of our sins, the same as if He had committed them Himself, He began "to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy" Mark 14:33. He said to His apostles, "my soul is exceeding sorrowful, even to death." Matthew 26:38. No mortal words can convey the agony which He suffered, but we do know that His experience was not a picturesque, idealistic, peaceful kneeling at the side of a rock as we often see portrayed in art. The scriptures reveal that as His agony increased," He went a little farther, and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt" Matthew 26:39.
The incomprehensible weight and agony of bearing the punishment for our sins was to great that not even Christ could accomplish it in one short session. Three times He rose from the terrible anguish and returned to the sleeping apostles. Three times He went back, alone, to feel and to suffer and to atone for us. And three times, in great, unbearable torment, He cried out to the Father for deliverance from the agony of that awful pain which was crushing down upon Him because of my sins and yours. Three times He expressed His fear and dread and wavering, saying the same words: "O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, Thy will be done" Matthew 26:42
Now we must ask why the Savior, who came to show us the perfect example of holiness and submission to the Father, would want us to know that this suffering caused "even God, the Greatest of all, to tremble because of pain... and would that I might not drink the bitter cup, and shrink.." D&C 19:18
There are at least three reasons He wanted us to know of His desire to escape, and they have a lot to do with honesty in our own prayers. To begin with, when our mortal weakness cause us to waver in our duties, to shrink from our responsibilities and wish we could find an easier way, we can remember that Christ also had those same feelings. Jesus wants us to understand that there is neither shame nor disgrace in feeling tired or wanting to quit or hoping to escape the challenges we encounter. Not as long, that is, as we endure to the end and continue to pray, in spite of our feelings, " nevertheless, not my will, but thine be done"
Secondly, Jesus was not denied the help for which He asked. An angel appeared, " strengthening Him" helping Him to remain steadfast and true to His covenants Luke 22:43. We should realize that when fear, discouragement or weariness is pulling us away for our duties, we too can pray for and receive divine assistance to remain faithful to our callings and duties.
And finally, a third message of this sacred account is that we must be TOTALLY honest with God in our prayers. The Savior did not try to fake the garden experience. He was in agony with unfamiliar feelings of shame and guilt and punishment for sins He didn't commit. To His great alarm, He found Himself afraid and shrinking from His duty, looking for a way of escape, but He was honest and humble enough to tell His Father exactly how He felt. He certainly did not want to waver, so He asked for help. We must not allow foolish pride to try and hide our real feelings from God. God knows everything so it would be foolish and useless. Satan cannot defeat us on this battleground (prayer) as long as we trust our Heavenly Father enough to be open and honest in our prayers.
So real desire and perfect honesty having faith in the promise of Jesus if you ask a bread you will not receive a stone will give to the inquiring person the answer he needs.

Revelation or scriptures?

Revelation or scriptures?
There is a great debate between the students of religion, or better between the different churches. The great majority of these, I'd say the 98% maintain that the knowledge of truth can be gained only with studying the scriptures and with the aid of a person that is well acquainted with the scriptures.
This fascinating perspective is soon frustrated if you consider that every church differs in understanding and discuss even the easiest verse of the scriptures. Let's take for example the salvation's topic, the Christian world is divided at least in two factions, one believes that salvation is just by grace and the other one in salvation by works. Yet these students are all well trained in religious schools.
If, by chance, we start to discuss about the resurrection the problem will become bigger, here the beliefs will become a lot more than two. How do we have to minister the sacrament? Here we have a very large difference of opinions. Certain churches take it just once a year, who take just an host other the wine and the bread and so on. If we should listen to all the students of the different churches we will be driven crazy, and think about all of these went in religious school to have the degree, but who gave them the degree? God or some men? I am speaking like a person that has no idea regarding the Christianity, how could I know who is in charge or which belief is the right one? Surely I could go and talk to a catholic minister and he for sure will say:"We have the power of tradition!" and people could agree, but what could happen if after that I go to talk to a Protestant minister and he could say:" Have you ever heard about the apostasy? Have you check the terrible things like the holy inquisition and the indulgences?" Probably you should admit that it would be better to take a closer look at the new situation.
I'd say that if you start to listen to the people you will be in their hands more than in God's hands, are you sure that this is what you want? Let me tell a true story that it happened to me just 3 weeks ago.
I went in Las Vegas because my parents never visited it and they wanted to go there. Suddenly my car was down so I asked to the person in charge in the motel where I could find a mechanic. It was 22.30 in the night. this guy kindly told me:"Don't worry I am an ex mechanic I will help you" I was happy. He told me:"I am sure it is your alternator we could go to pep boys tomorrow morning and buy an used one for just 40 dollars and probably with other 60 dollars for labor you will be fine." I went to sleep happily thinking:"I am in good hands"
The next morning I was speaking with the owner of the motel and she told me:" I wasn't aware that my manager was an ex mechanic, please be careful I don't want you to be in trouble." When they guy showed up said"Bad news! I was calling for almost one hour everywhere but nobody has the part and nobody is available to do the job for today, but don't worry you could buy a new alternator and I will replace it for just 50 dollars, is that OK for you?" It seemed I had no choice but the owner called me aside and told me:"Let me try this, we could go around and find out if it is true that nobody is available to repair your car." I agreed and we find a Sears and they were available to do the job if I was able to get the car there. That woman (her name was Angela, a true angel) helped me to get the car to Sears and what a surprise! It was not the alternator but just the battery was dead. I spend just 90 dollars and I was fine in just few minutes.
Angela told me a phrase that made me think:"Never trust the first person who claim to be something without proof, always go to the certified persons." Turning back to my topic, we have the problem to know who are the certified persons in religion, who are the certified person from God. I am sure that they exist and are the people who hold the priesthood of God, but how can the people find them? Do they just trust their words? I could enter in a debate trough the scriptures but this could lead just to MY opinion and this has the same problem referring to the other people. Then I prefer an easy approach. On my page there are articles that already are covering this topic like "the prayer" "the Holy Ghost" and "The revelation" and those are scriptural essays, right or wrong according to the different viewpoints. I believe that the more difficult questions are easily answered in the simple logic of the life, even Jesus answered to questions that seemed very difficult to answer with an easy way, sometimes irritating because the logic made sense. Can we forget the question:"Should we pay the tribute to Caesar?" The answer was sharp and very simple.

I'd like to do my point asking two simple questions.
1) What is the purpose of the prayer?
The easiest answer should be:" to have the chance to have a personal discussion with our heavenly Father."

2) What is the purpose of the scriptures?
The easiest answer should be:" To know the will and the purposes of God."

If the scriptures contain this it shouldn't be difficult to compare them to a manual for instructions for mankind. The interesting thing is that as such it is easy to be interpreted according to the human understanding, otherwise we can't explain all the differences between the various denominations, from what are they provoked? Simple, from the different personal interpretations! Peter gave a wonderful warning regarding this 2 Peter 1:19-21
2 Peter 1
19
We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

have you ever thought about what it is this "more sure word of prophecy?" have you ever took a closer look at the meaning "any private interpretation?"
If these interpretation came from the Holy Ghost we should have now JUST ONE FAITH, the bottom line for the church is Ephesians 4:12-13
Ephesians 4
12
For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
13
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ:
When Paul wrote this there was just ONE church and therefore he was referring to the unity of faith of every other beliefs, heathens included, surely not to the hundreds of different denomination of today, because at that time they were unknown, even though he knew about an apostasy, either way this scriptures fits for both of them.
Let's pretend to be in a school, where we receive several manuals to study. Each student studies and after gives his interpretation of the text, luckily there is a teacher that explains what the text contains and how this text should be used properly, otherwise you will see what kind of confusion could be generated from the different viewpoints. When the student receive an interview with the teacher, it is the teacher that gives a score, surely not the student. when there is written test it is the same thing. therefore the figure of the teacher is not of a secondary importance but surely of main importance because HE JUDGES our opinions. Let's put God at the teacher's place, because He gave us the scriptures and nobody better than Him knows everything about them even the slightest and difficulties interpretations of them. God has the perfect knowledge of His laws, doctrines and revelations, mankind perceives the outlines but without the aid of the Holy Ghost cannot see clearly. The Holy Ghost is called in the scriptures like the God's mind and it is given to teach and remember all that Jesus taught. It is easy to show that the majority of mankind has not the holy Ghost, the hundreds of different denominations are the best proof of it.
How do we can gain the sure knowledge of the truth?

The answer is not difficult but very easy, if you are in a classroom and you have problems to solve or something you are not sure, what do you do to remove this problem? I am sure you will ask the question to the teacher, if you ask to your fellow man next to you, probably you could have the wrong answer. Obviously this gives to the teacher the possibility to fully fulfill his real purpose: to teach, to clarify, to expound and so on. Our manuals without a teacher are useful but with a teacher will become perfect because He can explain them to you in the right and perfect way, make sense?
Why many people want for us to depend just on the Bible? Simple they want to teach us, they want the glory and above all they want that you guys think like them so in that case they become leaders, have you ever notice how many churches are depending on men like Luther, Calvin and so on. Power is the reason why people want you to depend just on the Bible. If you depend on God where is their power gone? We are taught to give glory to God not just men. All the churches maintain that prayer is important but they fight against it when the problem involved is the truth, many students are maintaining that prayer could be a device to deceive people, what are they talking about Jesus taught if you ask a bread you CAN'T RECEIVE A STONE. Students of religion are people taught from other people, they are learned from the mentality of the world, but God promised that only the people guided from the Holy Ghost can understand His Will, the students of the world probably will suggest you to buy an alternator when you need just a battery.

The scriptures, intended as a manual, are the clearest proof that this manual was modified during the centuries to better fit to the needs of the new generations. The scriptures differs from the other books because, even though the conductor wire is God, the proposed topics in them are changing in deep way. Let's take the Old Testament, this contains, History, songs, prayers, parables, genealogies, codex of conduct, prophecies, poetry and debates. Like every other work when is translated in other languages, has lost something. "We believe in the Bible as far...." this has scandalized many people but we know that even the book of Mormon in English cannot have the same impact that could have if we could read it in its original language, with the full understanding of who wrote it in its time. Also the other great works of other nature suffer when they are translated. Who reads Shakespeare in English and after reads him in German he should admit that it is not the same thing, and if you read Goethe in German and after in English he will see the same problem. For this is very hard to have the scriptures well understood in languages different from the language in which was written, consider that Jesus spoke in Hebrew but the gospels were written in Greek and after translated in every other languages. Do you really think that in this task they didn't lose anything from the initial meaning. I hope so but I am pretty sure that if, by chance we could have the originals in their own language with the perfect understanding of their language it would be more and more easy to perfect understand them. Have you ever see how many debates we have just for the meaning of just one word sometimes? Because how the people interpret that word could give us a different perspective.

Elder John A. Widtsoe gave an interesting point of view:"The message of the scripture is divine; the words in which it is clothed are human. Failure to make this distinction has led to much misunderstanding. Intelligent readers will separate the message of the scriptures from its form of presentation." (the articles of faith in everyday life)
We have to consider that the books of the 2 testaments contain specified instructions for that particular time and don't have a great value, just of human experience.
That the scriptures are always in expansion it is easily demonstrated from the evolution of them.

To Moses was given the Law and Jesus gave the Gospel. To Abraham was given the circumcision and Christ took off it. The Bible like canon was formed just after several centuries after the death of Christ, but even the old testament, did you know that until 150 a.c. the Hebrew had in their canon just the first five books of the law and the prophets? In fact the other writings were not considered sacred in the same way, in fact Jesus Himself affirmed that "love your fellow man like yourself and love your God with all your heart" were the whole law and the prophets, He didn't mention the historical books. Matthew 22:36-40
This doesn't mean that the historical books and the poetry were not inspired, but just that they were acknowledged from men later, and this it says a lot regarding the human influence on the scriptures. Martin Luther did fight a lot against the epistle of James and against Revelation. The Catholics have the apocrypha in their Bible, no the Protestants, who is right?
The scriptures are not a static document produced once and for ever, complete and unalterable, but even the opposite, they were and they are always in expansion, it is the man that doesn't wish more scriptures that he fears about what he doesn't know. What about the Qumran's manuscripts? Not only they have proven that Hebrews kept for sacred many other documents unknown to us, but further these documents are proving that Christianity at the very beginning was a lot more different from what it is considered Christianity today.
Hebrew 1:1-2
Hebrews 1
1
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2
Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

at sundry times and in divers manners means that He never spoke once and forever. Sometimes God has given lower laws like the Law of Moses to mankind with a purpose, in this case to be a teacher to bring people to Christ, Or He gave a king to Israel because they wanted a king, but God didn't like that. This is to say that the manual (scriptures) was evolving according to the need and the purpose of God. So if we are not aware of the extreme need to involve the Teacher, the students will wander without any certainty. If this one is our wish we can do it, but even the great manual of instruction given to us from the great Teacher evokes this principle in an obsessive manner even from the very beginning, unfortunately mankind never stops to recommend his fellow man and above all never stops to graft him in his opinions. For this reason it is extremely important to ask God to avoid to be forced to buy an alternator instead of a battery.

Is God spirit?

Is God spirit?
To better understand this article I would suggest before to read it to read before "the law of witnesses".
What is the greatest doctrine that we need to understand perfectly?
According to the Bible John 17:3
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Therefore the knowledge of the true nature of God it should be a basic thing.
One of the greatest controversy between the other churches and the church of Jesus Christ lds is that God is spirit, while just our church maintain that God has a body, perfect, holy and beyond our comprehension but still a body.
They quote John 4:24 to support their belief.
God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.
This difference in believing is even the opposite and surely if the other churches have reason our church is wrong and viceversa.
Quoting John 4:24  makes the other confessions strong: it is in the Bible, no way to escape, instead their position is very weak and no biblical, in fact it is an isolate statement took in the wrong context and we are going to prove it.
There is no other verse to support this idea instead there are so many to support the idea that God has a body.
Then why Jesus was saying that? Reading the phrase that Jesus said after that:"they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth." People should worship God in spirit too, is that possible? What I mean is, if you compare the first phrase to the second one, mankind should worship in spirit while has a body, there is just one way, it should be a figurative imagine.
1 Corinthians 6:17
But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit
Maybe when people convert to Christianity become spirit?
Following this method, I mean to take out of context verses we could say that
Deuteronomy 4:24
For the LORD thy God [is] a consuming fire, [even] a jealous God.
So in this case we have a God that is spirit and fire, is fire spirit?
Jeremiah 2:13
For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, [and] hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
Here it looks our God is a fountain
Psalms 91:4
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth [shall be thy] shield and buckler.
I don't want to comment this it would be to funny.
Another interesting things to note is that there is just another verse in which God is said to be "invisible"
Colossians 1:15
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
the problem with this is the same we have dozen and dozen of scriptures in the Bible speaking regarding prophets seeing God face to face and describing Him, with beard, sitting on thrones, eyes, hair, feet, hand and so on.
It is true that it is written  1 John 4:12
No man hath seen God at any time.
but Number 12:7-8
My servant Moses [is] not so, who [is] faithful in all mine house.

Numbers 12:8
8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold:
So which one of these two scriptures is true?
I am sure both of them because Moses saw the great Jehova and John was speaking regarding the Father that after the fallen never manifested Himself to mankind, only Jehova  was the mediator between mankind and the Father, and Jesus was Jehova. If we want to go deeper on this it is enough to go ahead and read what the same John wrote in John 6:46
Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
Here it seems that somebody saw even the Father, according to John, but what is the reality?
John 1:18
No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him].
Matthew 11:17
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and [he] to whomsoever the Son will reveal [him].
III John 1:11
Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
Clearly he that doeth good has seen God, in fact all the prophets saw Him and described Him in many occasion in the Bible.
I am covering this part, because many people saying that God is invisible is a prove that He is spirit, consequently proving that He was visible, it should be easy to prove that he has a body.
Here it is very clear the concept. The prophets ( save he which is of God) saw Jehowa or the Son and the only mediator and He declared Him, in fact Jesus proclaimed "John 17:26
26 And I have declared unto them thy name," but the name Jehowa was already known, so He explained the name "Helohim" and in other occasion Jesus was referring to His father like  "The ONLY TRUE God" because Jesus was God according to the scriptures but the Father had the preeminence ever and will ever have it. The father is greater than Me! Jesus declared in several occasions, and so on.
Over the centuries men in various churches and sects have quoted single verses or passages to prove their particular beliefs. Sometimes these texts are used correctly; at other times they do violence to the author's meaning. Using a passage of scripture isolated from its larger setting is called text-proof method. It is often unfair.
Context means WITH THE TEXT.
From the book "understanding the scriptures" by Lowell L. Bennion pag 27
It is perfectly proper to quote a single verse or two of scripture, but in doing so one should have read what precedes it and what follows it. Otherwise he may misrepresent the author's idea. The following story illustrates this.
One evening in a city in Switzerland a Mormon missionary gave a talk to non Mormons on the nature of God. He endeavored to demonstrate that the Father was a real person, a Creator, revelator, and Father in whose imagine man was made. Suddenly a minister in the back of the hall cried out:" God is spirit," quoting from John 4:24. In this verse, Jesus was not trying to describe the whole nature of God, he was emphasizing the role of spirit of God and man as part of a brief discourse on HOW TO WORSHIP. He was trying to teach the Samaritan woman to worship " in spirit and in truth".
In that same meeting a few moments laters, the minister spoke up again, saying," God is love" quoting correctly from 1 John 4:8. He was using the verse to prove that God is love and nothing else. If we turn to this verse, however, and read the verses before and after that complete the thought (verse 7-12), we see again that the main interest was TO INSPIRE PEOPLE TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER. To achieve this, the author stressed God's great attribute of love. The Father's love for us is so great that he is the embodiment of love; this is one of His greatest attributes. But He is also more than love. The next verse says 1 John 4:9
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Love alone cannot send us a Savior, cannot create worlds, cannot bring to pass the resurrection. Love is a quality that cannot exist except as a single attribute. It lives through those who exercise it.
We are sure that the diatribe will continue forever, but at least we have shown, by the Bible or better by the law of witnesses, that there is just one verse maintaining that God is spirit and dozens maintaining that He has a body.
Even the resurrection of Jesus is another proof of this. Jesus resurrected with His personal body and with that one ascended in Heaven. For this I suggest you to read "Resurrection"
The common sense not only destroy this idea but even mock it.
The creation maintains that mankind was made in His imagine,
Many prophets saw God and described Him many times.
Jesus loved to name Himself "Son of Man".
Hebrew 1:3
Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person
Colossians 2:9
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
BODILY IS VERY CLEAR
At least if we consider that just one of the trhee persons of the godhead is called "Holy Ghost" or Holy Spirit, it makes clear that the other two are not "spirit" otherwise..........
