Is God spirit?

Is God spirit?

What is the greatest doctrine that we need to understand perfectly?
According to the Bible John 17:3
3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
Therefore the knowledge of the true nature of God it should be a basic thing.
One of the greatest controversy between the other churches and the church of Jesus Christ lds is that God is spirit, while just our church maintain that God has a body, perfect, holy and beyond our comprehension but still a body.
They quote John 4:24 to support their belief.
God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.
This difference in believing is even the opposite and surely if the other churches have reason our church is wrong and viceversa.
Quoting John 4:24  makes the other confessions strong: it is in the Bible, no way to escape, instead their position is very weak and no biblical, in fact it is an isolate statement took in the wrong context and we are going to prove it.
There is no other verse to support this idea instead there are so many to support the idea that God has a body.
Then why Jesus was saying that? Reading the phrase that Jesus said after that:"they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth." People should worship God in spirit too, is that possible? What I mean is, if you compare the first phrase to the second one, mankind should worship in spirit while has a body, there is just one way, it should be a figurative imagine.
1 Corinthians 6:17
But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit
Maybe when people convert to Christianity become spirit?
Following this method, I mean to take out of context verses we could say that
Deuteronomy 4:24
For the LORD thy God [is] a consuming fire, [even] a jealous God.
So in this case we have a God that is spirit and fire, is fire spirit?
Jeremiah 2:13
For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, [and] hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.
Here it looks our God is a fountain
Psalms 91:4
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth [shall be thy] shield and buckler.
I don't want to comment this it would be to funny.
Another interesting things to note is that there is just another verse in which God is said to be "invisible"
Colossians 1:15
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
the problem with this is the same we have dozen and dozen of scriptures in the Bible speaking regarding prophets seeing God face to face and describing Him, with beard, sitting on thrones, eyes, hair, feet, hand and so on.
It is true that it is written  1 John 4:12
No man hath seen God at any time.
but Number 12:7-8
My servant Moses [is] not so, who [is] faithful in all mine house.

Numbers 12:8
8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the LORD shall he behold:
So which one of these two scriptures is true?
I am sure both of them because Moses saw the great Jehova and John was speaking regarding the Father that after the fallen never manifested Himself to mankind, only Jehova  was the mediator between mankind and the Father, and Jesus was Jehova. If we want to go deeper on this it is enough to go ahead and read what the same John wrote in John 6:46
Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
Here it seems that somebody saw even the Father, according to John, but what is the reality?
John 1:18
No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him].
Matthew 11:17
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and [he] to whomsoever the Son will reveal [him].
III John 1:11
Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
Clearly he that doeth good has seen God, in fact all the prophets saw Him and described Him in many occasion in the Bible.
I am covering this part, because many people saying that God is invisible is a prove that He is spirit, consequently proving that He was visible, it should be easy to prove that he has a body.
Here it is very clear the concept. The prophets ( save he which is of God) saw Jehowa or the Son and the only mediator and He declared Him, in fact Jesus proclaimed "John 17:26
26 And I have declared unto them thy name," but the name Jehowa was already known, so He explained the name "Helohim" and in other occasion Jesus was referring to His father like  "The ONLY TRUE God" because Jesus was God according to the scriptures but the Father had the preeminence ever and will ever have it. The father is greater than Me! Jesus declared in several occasions, and so on.
Over the centuries men in various churches and sects have quoted single verses or passages to prove their particular beliefs. Sometimes these texts are used correctly; at other times they do violence to the author's meaning. Using a passage of scripture isolated from its larger setting is called text-proof method. It is often unfair.
Context means WITH THE TEXT.
From the book "understanding the scriptures" by Lowell L. Bennion pag 27
It is perfectly proper to quote a single verse or two of scripture, but in doing so one should have read what precedes it and what follows it. Otherwise he may misrepresent the author's idea. The following story illustrates this.
One evening in a city in Switzerland a Mormon missionary gave a talk to non Mormons on the nature of God. He endeavored to demonstrate that the Father was a real person, a Creator, revelator, and Father in whose imagine man was made. Suddenly a minister in the back of the hall cried out:" God is spirit," quoting from John 4:24. In this verse, Jesus was not trying to describe the whole nature of God, he was emphasizing the role of spirit of God and man as part of a brief discourse on HOW TO WORSHIP. He was trying to teach the Samaritan woman to worship " in spirit and in truth".
In that same meeting a few moments laters, the minister spoke up again, saying," God is love" quoting correctly from 1 John 4:8. He was using the verse to prove that God is love and nothing else. If we turn to this verse, however, and read the verses before and after that complete the thought (verse 7-12), we see again that the main interest was TO INSPIRE PEOPLE TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER. To achieve this, the author stressed God's great attribute of love. The Father's love for us is so great that he is the embodiment of love; this is one of His greatest attributes. But He is also more than love. The next verse says 1 John 4:9
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Love alone cannot send us a Savior, cannot create worlds, cannot bring to pass the resurrection. Love is a quality that cannot exist except as a single attribute. It lives through those who exercise it.
We are sure that the diatribe will continue forever, but at least we have shown, by the Bible or better by the law of witnesses, that there is just one verse maintaining that God is spirit and dozens maintaining that He has a body.
Even the resurrection of Jesus is another proof of this. Jesus resurrected with His personal body and with that one ascended in Heaven.
The common sense not only destroy this idea but even mock it.
The creation maintains that mankind was made in His imagine,
Many prophets saw God and described Him many times.
Jesus loved to name Himself "Son of Man".
Hebrew 1:3
Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person
Colossians 2:9
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
BODILY IS VERY CLEAR
At least if we consider that just one of the trhee persons of the godhead is called "Holy Ghost" or Holy Spirit, it makes clear that the other two are not "spirit" otherwise..........
