God once a man?

God once a man?
Joseph Smith once said, "I go back to the beginning to show what kind of a being God was, I will tell you & hear it O Earth! God who sits in yonder heavens is a man like yourselves That God if you were to see him to day that holds the worlds you would see him like a man in form, like yourselves. Adam was made in his image and talked with him & walked with him. In order to understand the dead for the consolation of those that mourn, I want you to understand God and how he comes to be God. We suppose that God was God from eternity. I will refute that Idea, or I will do away or take away the veil so you may see. It is the first principle to know that we may converse with him and that he once was a man like us, and the Father was once on an earth like us, And I wish I was in a suitable place to tell it The scriptures inform us mark it that Jesus Christ said As the Father hath power in himself so hath the son power in himself to do what the father did even to lay down my body & take it up again do you believe it, if not, don’t believe the bible." (King Follet sermon)
Our critics enjoy using this quote against us to show we are not Christians because we believe that God was once a man. Sometimes they mockingly ask, "On what earth was God once a man?" or "Can you prove by the Bible that the Father was once a man?" As often happens, those who criticize us often don't ponder what the Bible actually says. Since this is the book which Christians claim to base all their religious belief in, let’s look at what it tells us.
The very foundation of Christian doctrine is that Jesus was a man who is  also God. However, Jesus taught many times that the rest of mankind would likewise follow His example. In other words, the same process that Jesus went through to become exalted to sit on the right hand of God is the same process intended for all mankind to go through. Let's see what the scriptures have to tell us.
We find in the New Testament that Jesus declared 84 times that he was the "son of Man." What does that mean? just to introduce what kind of person His Dad was. It means also that Jesus was a man just like us. He was born of a woman, just as we are. He was capable of being physically harmed, just as we are. In fact, it was for this very reason that His parents fled to Egypt to keep Him safe from Herod’s wrath. He was required to obey the laws of God just like everyone else. As such, He had to be baptized, just like we are required to be. He was tempted the same as we are. He became hungry and thirsty, just as we do, and He suffered pain, and died, just as we do. His life was clearly typical of what we face as humans. There can be no doubt that Jesus was indeed a man in every way that we are.

Christians argue that while Jesus was indeed a man, He was also God. But it was Jesus who declared that we too are Gods. In John 10:31-35 we read, "Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken."

This is a remarkable declaration! But can this be true? Jesus was the one who said it, and He drove home His point when He said "the scripture cannot be broken." Therefore, it must be true if we are to believe in the Bible.

The critics argue that this can’t be because Jesus is God and there is no one greater than God. However, Jesus declared that the Father was greater than Him. More than that, Jesus commanded us to "Be perfect like your Father in heaven is perfect." This clearly infers that Jesus had not become perfect Himself at this point because He had not yet risen to sit at the right hand of the father. This happened after His resurrection
Let’s take a look at some other verses of scripture that verify this claim. Philippians 2:6-9 tells us, "Who, being in the form of God , thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name."

This scripture tells us that "God also hath highly exalted him." How could God (whom Jesus said was greater than He was) exalt Him if He was already exalted before He came to earth? To understand the answer to this question, let’s examine the life of Jesus.

We believe that before being born on earth, Jesus lived in heaven as a spirit. And so did we. Consider these verses of scripture:

Hebrews 12:9 "Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected [us], and we gave [them] reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?"

Ecclesiastes 12:7 "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it."

Luke 23:46 "And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit."

Colossians 1:15 "Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature."
Revelation 3:14
14 ¶ And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;

After His pre-mortal life, Jesus came on earth to live just as we did. The Bible tells us, in Hebrews 4:15, "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin." He died just as each of us will someday die (Colossians 1:18)
18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead;
. He rose from the dead, and someday so will we. He was judged (Philippians 2:8; Hebrews 1:4)
Hebrews 1:4
4 ¶ Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
Philippians 2:9
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

Hebrews 4:15
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as [we are, yet] without sin.
Philippians 2:8
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
phesians 2:6
6 And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus:
Ephesians 3:19
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.
that this idea could be hard for the human mind is clearly said from Paul himself in the next verse
Ephesians 3:20
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
and also
Philippians 3:20
20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:
Philippians 3:21
21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body,
see it is always mentioning the word body no spirit.
Colossians 2:9
9 For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.
BODILY
and thank to him other man will become Gods according to
and so will we be judged. When he had by himself purged our sins, He sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high (Philippians 2:9), and so will we. In Ephesians 2:6; 3:16 we read, "And hath raised [us] up together, and made [us] sit together in heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus… And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God."

The apostle Paul further clarified what he meant when he continued his explanation in the next two verses, saying, "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body."
To the Hebrews Paul further explained, "For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified [are] all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren… Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto [his] brethren." (Hebrews 2:11, 17).
Jesus became perfect (Hebrews 5:9)
Hebrews 5:99 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
MADE PERFECT
and we too are commanded to be perfect (Hebrews 12:23).
Hebrews 12:2323 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,

As though this isn’t enough to show us that we will become just like Jesus, the apostle John clearly declared, "but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is" (1 John 3:2).
1 John 3:2but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Was God once was a man? If man will become as God is then it seems to me the process by which men become God is must be the same
After all is declared by Jesus he said to be a son of a Man and His Father was God the Father!
In the creation, all LIFE was commanded to reproduce itself after its own kind, and only so. Through all the generations since the creation the various life species have held true. Man was born as the OFFSPRING OF GOD, hence we are in His image and likeness just as surely as were Adam and Seth and Jesus who taught who saw me saw the Father.
Animals reproduce after their kind but they are not creative, man is like His Father not only reproduce his kind but he is by nature a creator of things.
Jesus is now a God, the God of all Christians and he was a man, He is the living proof that God was once a man!!
Do you want to know on which earth your God , O Christians, was? On your own!!!!!
