Should we pray?

Don't you know that we aren't supposed to pray about doing things that are in
the Bible, but we are to do them. Do you ask God, "Should I murder?" No,
you simply don't murder." This wrote me a critic of our church.
This seems a smart idea, but the author is not God.
God set the rule" Don't kill" from the very beginning. He cursed Cain when he killed Abel, and he warned Noah in Genesis 9:5-6
And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man's brother will I require the life of man.

Genesis 9:6
6 Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

But just few chapters later God Himself asked to Abraham to kill his son Isaac. We don't know what were the feelings of Abraham, but the fact is that Abraham was obedient, this is making clear that a direct revelation from God is more important of the scriptures that we possess. Abraham didn't argue with God just he did it even tough Noah had received the command:" Don't kill!"
The same God in His Law gave the same command "Don't kill" in Exodus 20:13
13 Thou shalt not kill.
Site Meter But still in his law prescribed to kill people by stoning if they were doing evil sins. I guess those people needed to be sure to take the right decision when they decided if they could stoned somebody. And another very strange case it was when God Himself declared in Joshua 6:21
And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and WOMAN, YOUNG AND OLD, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword." Probably you think that this was a command from Joshua, but if you read Chapter 8:2,24-26 you will see that God himself gave that order.
And thou shalt do to Ai and her king as thou didst unto Jericho and her king: only the spoil thereof, and the cattle thereof, shall ye take for a prey unto yourselves: lay thee an ambush for the city behind it.

And it came to pass, when Israel had made an end of slaying all the inhabitants of Ai in the field, in the wilderness wherein they chased them, and when they were all fallen on the edge of the sword, until they were consumed, that all the Israelites returned unto Ai, and smote it with the edge of the sword.

Joshua 8:25
25 And [so] it was, [that] all that fell that day, both of men and women, [were] twelve thousand, [even] all the men of Ai.

Joshua 8:26
26 For Joshua drew not his hand back, wherewith he stretched out the spear, until he had utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of Ai.

another interesting question is :"Do you ask God, "Should I lie?" No, you simply
don't lie."
Even in this case you should understand that sometimes you should make a choice for example Exodus 1:15-21.
And the king of Egypt spake to the Hebrew midwives, of which the name of the one [was] Shiphrah, and the name of the other Puah:

Exodus 1:16
16 And he said, When ye do the office of a midwife to the Hebrew women, and see [them] upon the stools; if it [be] a son, then ye shall kill him: but if it [be] a daughter, then she shall live.

Exodus 1:17
17 But the midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the men children alive.

Exodus 1:18
18 And the king of Egypt called for the midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have saved the men children alive?

Exodus 1:19
19 And the midwives said unto Pharaoh, Because the Hebrew women [are] not as the Egyptian women; for they [are] lively, and are delivered ere the midwives come in unto them.

Exodus 1:20
20 Therefore God dealt well with the midwives: and the people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.

Exodus 1:21
21 And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses.

Sometimes tell the truth it could be against the purpose of God, in this case if you read verse 20 and 21 you will realize that God wanted for them to lie. So what is written is important but the revelation coming from God is more important because it helps to clarify situation by situation. It was for this specific reason that God gave the Holy Ghost to the Church for this I suggest you to read (The prayerthe Holy Ghost and the revelation) and James was real inspired when he wrote in James 1:5-6
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all [men] liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

James 1:6
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

So it is true that mankind should not kill or lie in most of the times, but like any rule this one too have exceptions, and the exceptions are chosen from God not men, if you couldn't have access to the Holy Ghost or the revelation you surely will be in trouble, but God set up a plan in which everything is in order.
Mankind can make any question when he has a real doubt, or better when is conscience is in trouble, it is wise to ask when the things is no clear. After the apostasy Jesus Himself prophesied in Matthew 24:23-26
Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here [is] Christ, or there; believe [it] not.

Matthew 24:24
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Matthew 24:25
25 Behold, I have told you before.

Matthew 24:26
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, [he is] in the secret chambers; believe [it] not.

that many people will demand to be listened and they will pretend to be Jesus, so why the Christians are so ashamed or better afraid to use the prayer in asking for wisdom? For a simple reason they don't believe and don't trust even the Bible and they teach principles and doctrines of man, because the Bible is clear, the same friend who wrote those 2 questions wrote this too:
"Have you EVER prayed about something and gotten a
mixed answer? I have."

Well in this case this guy is just saying that Jesus is a liar because he literally promised this in Matthew 7:7-11
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

Matthew 7:8
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Matthew 7:9
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?

Matthew 7:10
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?

Matthew 7:11
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
and for consequence this put God in a place of a deceiver, but we know that is no possible, so Jesus is not a liar and God is not a deceiver. If you ask bread you can't receive a stone.
